Pain in the knees

  • Knee pain is a common symptom at all ages.
  • It can start suddenly, after injury or exercise.
  • Knee pain sometimes starts as a slight discomfort, then slowly gets worse.

Causes of pain in the knee

Risk factors

  • overweight
  • Overuse
  • Arthritis in the background

Injuries and overuse

  • Bursitis: inflammation due to repeated pressure on the front of the knee
  • Tendinitis: inflammation of a tendon due to overuse or inactivity
  • Repeated discharges/instability of the pica

  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome Injury to the thin and long leg located on the outside of the thigh
  • PatelloFemoral syndrome: Anterior pain of the knee around the pubis

If your knee hurts as a result of a bruise or accident, it is recommended that you see a doctor immediately.

If the pain did not begin a long time ago, you may:

  • Rest, avoid activities that cause pain
  • ICE FOR 20 MINUTES EVERY TWO HOURS - COVER THE KNEE WITHTOWEL BEFORE COOLING
  • Leg Lifting\ Treatment of Swelling
  • Elastic bandage
  • Painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs after consulting a treating doctor

General tips to relieve and avoid pain in the knees:

  • QUADRICEPS MUSCLE STRENGTHENING EXERCISES
  • Hamstrings Stretches
  • Warm-up exercises before training
  • Stretching muscles after sports
  • Biking or swimming ++
  • Run on a smooth and soft surface, such as a track, instead of on cement or pavement.
  • Help to lose weight
  • Insoles in the case of flatfoot

When to see a specialist?

  • Without the ability to step on foot
  • Severe pain even without stepping
  • Locking of the knee, unable to straighten the knee
  • Deformation of the leg
  • Fever with swelling or redness around the knee
  • Continued knee pain after 3 days of home treatment

What does a specialist check/recommend in case of knee pain?

  • A complete clinical examination includes a comparative examination standing and lying down.
